5 Citrus Coolers To Help You Beat The Heat

Get your hats and sunscreens out because summer is officially here!

And for those of you who want some respite from the burning sun, here are a few easy to make citrus coolers to help you beat the heat.

Orange and Ginger sparkler

Citrus-y with a touch of ginger, this sparkler can be your next summer party star!

Ingredients:

2 tbsp orange juice

1 tsp ginger juice (freshly squeezed)

1 tbsp honey

1 cup sparkling water/ soda

Method:

In a glass, add the orange juice, ginger juice and honey. Top it off with some chilled sparking water or soda. Garnish with an orange slice and serve.

Mango lemonade

Take your basic lemonade up a notch by adding in your favourite summer fruit.

Ingredients:

1/2 mango (pureed)

3 tbsp lemon juice

2 tbsp sugar

1 cup water

Mint leaves

Method:

In a sauce pan, boil together the sugar and water until the sugar completely dissolves. Take it off the heat and keep aside to cool. In a glass, pour in the mango puree, lemon juice and cooled sugar syrup. Add in roughly torn mint leaves, mix well and drink up.

Fresh watermelon and lime mocktail

Light and refreshing, this sweet tangy drink is a great way to beat the heat.

Ingredients:

4-5 watermelon pieces

1 tbsp lime juice

1 tbsp powdered sugar

125 ml club soda

Method:

In a blender, mix together watermelon, lime juice and sugar. Strain it into a glass and top it off with some chilled club soda and lime slices. Sip and relax.

Lime and mint iced tea

Forget the peaches, this lime and mint iced tea is bound to be your new go-to favourite.

Ingredients:

1 cup water

1/2 lime (cut into 4 pieces)

1 tsp tea leaves

2 tsp sugar

4 fresh mint leaves

4 Ice cubes

Method:

Begin by boiling together the water, tea and sugar. Strain and keep aside to cool down to room temperature. In a glass, muddle the mint leaves and the lime. Add in ice cubes and pour in the tea concoction. Stir and serve.

Coconut, basil and lemon cooler

Ingredients:

1 cup coconut water

1/2 lemon slice

1 tsp honey

4-5 basil leaves

Method:

In a glass, muddle the lemon, basil and honey. Pour in chilled coconut water, garnish with some more basil leaves and serve.

*You can replace sugar with honey or any other sweetner in any of the above drinks.
